Deep in the heart of the Highlands
Where some beautiful scenery lies
Among moorland, mountains, rivers and glens
Below vast unpredictable sky’s
There’s no better place I could be
With these views and such tranquility
And a road that leads out into nowhere
Feels like heaven to me
I’m going back, back to the highlands
There is nowhere that I would rather be
I’m going back, to follow the river
Past the saltwater loch to the sea
Walking for miles through the
Highlands
With my red headed
West Highland lass
Through forest and glen, hilltop and ben
Where the Jacobites once shared these paths
Kinlochleven leads to Devils Staircase
The silver stream leads to the Loch
And the Pap of Glencoe leads to a view
Of which Highland dreams are made of
I’m going back, back to the highlands
There is nowhere that I would rather be
I’m going back, to follow the river
Past the saltwater loch to the sea
Out through the glens, into the mountains
Oh what a Highland adventure this will be
For me and my lass, we’re back in the Highlands
Oh The Highlands feel like home to me.
